Specimen Days is Michael Cunningham’s newest book since he won the Pulitzer Price for his novel The Hours. Three stories about New York and poet Walt Whitman. One story is set during the industrial revolution, a second in the early 21st century and a third one 150 years into the future.
Like he did in The Hours Cunningham is intercutting time, places and people. Although I was more deeply touched by The Hours and A Home at the End of the Road, this is good reading.
